This year’s PLASA Show in London
proved a major success for the lighting industry, providing a
showcase for manufacturers to present innovative products that
will change the way lighting professionals think about how a
‘standard’ fixture performs.
Leading the way again was Italian-based Coemar S.p.A. with the
most creative wash light to hit the market in years.
With 65 participants, from ten different countries vying for the
prestigious Award for Innovation, Coemar took the main prize
with the incredible Infinity Wash XL.
Created from a concept put together with their distributors —
and in particular Inner Circle Distribution in the US — Coemar
has managed to blur the edges between a Wash and Spot light.
While listening to the American market about the need to use
spots as washes, Coemar took a radical approach to deliver the
desired results — in a much better fashion. By utilising the
large aperture of a Wash beam and splitting the effect to create
movement and break up the effect, Coemar has succeeded in
achieving an ultra-bright fixture with incredible beam effects
that not only has 6°-80° zoom (with no lens changes), but a
brand new colour mixing system patented as the CMY-s system.
This allows the user to not only obtain standard CMY colours,
but also to expand the range dramatically by using the ‘s’ for
saturation to produce deep colours.
These were all features that impressed PLASA’s technical
adjudicators, and David Stewart, head of lighting for Fuzion
plc, Coemar’s UK distributors, was on hand to collect the
prestigious award.
“This is a proud moment for us, and a triumph for the hard work
put in by everyone involved,” he said.
The Infinity XL is just one of the fixtures designed by Coemar
in the last few years that have vaulted the company back to the
forefront. Along with the hugely-successful Par Lite LED and
other 'Lite LED' family members, the Infinity Wash XL is proof
that Coemar has worked out how to provide lighting tools that
are tailor-made for the professional user.
Fausto Orsatti, Coemar’s International Sales Director,
commented, "Coemar has totally changed its philosophy. The
company no longer sits at the design table and thinks in terms
of how we can push the boundaries in order to create innovative
effects. We now operate in an international arena, and
collaborate with designers, technicians, and other 'real world'
lighting professionals and use our creative innovation to
realise their ambitions.”
And he promises further innovation to be presented at LDI 07.
