Cannot update Nexo NX242 ES Card Firmware
If you encounter an error when attempting
to load the ES card firmware, follow the steps below to ensure
that the uploader is configured properly. If it is not
configured properly the upload will not start and you will get a
“no firmware available” message in the updater window.
Note that if the loader does begin the upload, you MUST NOT
interrupt it or turn the computer or NX242 OFF!! If you do, this
could render the card inoperable permanently and will require it
to be returned to the manufacturer for a hardware reset.
Instructions for upgrading:
First, download the new version NX firmware load. These can be
obtained from our server at the following address:
http://www.fuziontech.co.uk/ftproot/Fuzion/Software/Nexo/NX242/
When you have the load, unzip all files into a folder on your C:
drive to a folder named “NX242”.
Using a serial (null modem) cable between the computer and the
NX242, upgrade the NX242 firmware first.
Once done, turn the NX242 off and then on to initialise the new
firmware.
You now need to install the ES Card Firmware updater software.
Navigate to :
C:\NX242\NEXO_FIRMWARE\NXTENSION_ES4
You will find the installer file here (AVS_ESFirmwareUpdater.exe).
Install the software by launching this file.
Once installed, copy the new NX242 “NXTension_ES4_xxxx.avf” file
(located in the C:\NX242\NEXO_FIRMWARE\NXTENSION_ES4 folder) to
the firmware updater “Firmware” folder at:
C:\PROGRAM FILES\AUVITRAN\Firmware Update\Firmware
Note that if this file is not copied over before using the
updater, the updater application will flag a “No firmware
available” error.
Set your computer ethernet card to “Obtain an IP Address
Automatically” and “Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically”.
Now using an RJ45 Crossover cable, connect the computer to the
ES Card using the “IN” socket on the ES card. Once connected,
check that the computer indicates the connection is established.
Now launch the ES-Firmware Updater program found in:
C:\Program Files\Auvitran\Firmware Update
(AVS-ESFirmwareUpdater.exe)
Once launched, the program will find the card and display its
MAC address. It will also check the firmware in the card and if
an update is necessary it will show that an update is available
in the “status” window.
Now all you have to do is to update the program using the
“Update” button on the main screen.
If all goes well, the program will indicate that the load was
successful.
Note that if the upload is NOT successful, do NOT turn the NX242
OFF!!! If unsuccessful, attempt another upload as turning the NX242 off
can result in the card becoming permanently locked out.
